I apologize for the very long gap between journal entries... classes, and life have gotten busy...and still are, but its a thursday. Thursday is probubly my favorite day of the week, and during it I feel like I have the ability to accomplish so much more than on regular days. (Partially because I only have 2 classes, and the first is at 8, so I start my day early- something I like for at least a few days out of my week..).
So, here are a few pics to quickly update :) :

Yell practice with Patrick and Kristen on 1st deck (right next to the corp band) the night before the tech game.

Amanda, Michelle and I at the tech game (early) -sept. 23

The (5 hr) black-out...sry for how dark it is.. what the picture is actually of is all of the people who were outside.

Michelle, Amanda and I at yell practice for Missouri game (last weekend) ( in which the aggie astronaut came to!!!-pic of him is blurry and dark, so I won't post it)

The freshman ladies in our group at the missouri game-4th row 3rd deck!!! :) (left to right:me, sarah, amanda, michelle)

I love the rain...just not the being cold and wet in AC classes. Its been very rainy lately...and A&M has a tendency to flood(=lots of great puddles :) )...and this was from my most recent venture back from my political science class that is on the opposite side of campus...

In picture...wet me (in my make do rain shoes until I can find rain boots :-D), backpack, and probably the most important item for anyone coming to A&M, an umbrella :)

This morning as I walked back from class I thought to myself "How could I ever say that I couldn't wait for cold weather??", burrowing further into my hoodie to try and escape the cold morning air.
But in a way I guess I just need to break out the winter/cold gear and fight the cold with an AMAZING cup of coffee in hand. My discovery of the day: Studio 12...in the basement of my dorm, in which I can use a meal plan to get a white chocolate mocha, muffin, and donut (or other stuff too):) All of which are starbucks-level. And so here is my early(or late), first self portrait sunday hehe.

Well I'm going to get back to studying. I will try my best to be better about keeping this thing up to date! Hope everyone has a wonderful week / weekend :)

My door is no longer bare :)

If walls...or airducts could talk...

While doing math homework today I glanced back randomly and something caught my eye in our air duct... at a closer look I realized that that something was a bottle of water and a power ade that the crafty guys who lived here before us had left. lol

I feel like the last few days have had their ups and downs, but that the good times outweigh the bad by far. I don't know if I wrote about this in my last journal entry, but I've been paired up with a 1st grade class, that I will visit for the 1st time this upcoming monday :) Classes have been getting a little bit more stressful the closer we get to next week ( bio test, bio-lab quiz, hist essay due, and math test). But then again I could have it far worse as I have 2 classes that aren't testing next week...
Last night after POLS class I went to a cross decorating party for Kappa Theta Beta. :) :

Before we decorated our crosses they read a story about a man who was so tired from carrying his burdens (cross) that he collapsed and prayed for God to take up his cross because the weight was too much for him to bare. And so God told him to put his cross in a room, but when the man walked in, he saw crosses so big that you couldn't even see the tops. This made him realize how blessed he was and that he had it easy compared to what others were going through.
And we also learned more about KTB...I wish I could show the neat folder that they gave us with hand outs in it to everyone...but I'll just share their mission statement that I really liked and hopefully give a little taste of the organization that I'm so excited to get involved in: As sisters wanting to grow in holiness with Jesus Christ as our example, we strive to serve humbly, love patiently, pray with commitment, act purely, study with discipline, and faithfully hope for our ultimate unity with Christ.
Well I'm off to study biology and work on hist. paper, I hope everyone is having a good end of the week :) Love to all!!

(Sept. 9)

A little late with this update of football pictures...but I guess its better late than never :) So here we are:

left to right: Michelle, Amanda, Claire, me, Amy.

Compare these shots with last weeks, and you'll notice a big difference! :-D YAY for 1st Deck!!

Everyone waving 12th man towels. You have to see this in person to get the full effect, you'll just have to trust me that when thousands of people are waiving them it looks really cool...and makes a very nice breeze :)

Band getting ready to play. Also, the guy in the white shirt with a camera on his back was my DG leader at Fish Camp!

Yell leaders leading the good ole' school song (which I proudly now know the words to :) ) before getting tackled by the corp since we won the game (51-7)!

Was a very good weekend (and monday) and the week ahead looks to be even better. High lights to come: -I have my orientation at Bonham elementary school tomorrow. - Kappa Theta Beta rush wed.-fri. . And of course -school :) Which seems to be going good so far. Hope everyone else has a great week. Love to all!

Just a quick up date:

The last few days have been some what of a blur, every weekend goes so quickly and yesterday some how feels like 2 days in itself. lol so...I think I'll just sum up Friday quickly:
After classes were done, I went to daily mass with Kristen, and afterwards we went to an adoration meeting and then walked back to campus and went to Rumors. It's a coffee house/restaurant that we just felt like trying out :) It turned out to be VERY good, and the huge toasted club sandwhich would have been big enough for the both of us...but we both will enjoy our left overs later :)Plus they had probubly the neatest doggy bag I've ever gotten:

lol, it's the simple things in life right :)
Anyways, afterwards we thought we'd go see what the aggie nights thing was all about, and discovered free t-shirts, pop, and pizza (both were too full though for the pizza) as well as rent-able board games (also free) bowling and pool. After playing a board game for nearly 2 hours with Jacob (another St.Mary's go-er who happened to be there as well), we ran into a big band group from cinco, and listened to karaoke until it was time for midnight yell.
Seeing as though the last time I was really outside was around 8 (now 12), walking out into rain was bit of a surprise. But rain is no damper for us aggies...we still went to midnight yell (hehe and our group sat under the cover of the over hanging deck :) )as did several other thousands of spirited aggies. So here is my picture of midnight yell from the coverage of the upper deck( oh, and we're on the 2nd deck...so there are a ton of people underneath not seen in the pic).

and since it looks like there is barely any one in the photo...here's a pic. afterwards of a little bit of the crowd leaving lol:

Was definitely different, but still fun. Life takes spontaneity :)(Mastercard commercial) ...and thats kind of what my friday night was made up of.
Well, I'm off to dinner and a football game with some girl friends, will post the awesome pictures we'll get from FIRST DECK!!!! :-D
Mom: when was the african violet watered? Wasn't sure if it was time for me to water it or not. Glad you got to NY safely!

Ba Da da da da, I'm lovin it :) (McDonald's jingle)

Going about my day yesterday I kept thinking of things I would want to write in my journal, it was a day of stepping outside my comfort zone and trying new things.
I started off early with my 8am History class, after which I had 3 and a half hours before my next class. On tuesday I used this time to try out the library as a study place, which I liked, but when I walked by the coffee shop next to the library and saw only a short line ( line is normally out the door...no exaggeration) I decided to get a mocha :). Which turned into me sitting down at a cute little table and taking out my biology book to read.
When I'm out in public I don't really like to be alone, but thats something that I've been growing more comfortable with as my independence has been increased. In the coffee house I discovered how nice it is to study in a cozy environment, where you don't have big distractions like tv and computers, or even the little noises that stand out in the silence of the library (althought there is that distraction of people watching and listening to others conversations from near by coffee drinkers lol). After my mocha was all gone, I went to my math teacher for extra credit, and later went to biology, receiving more extra credit on a pop quiz. At this point I was filled with a feeling of satisfaction, and felt glad that I was able to keep ontop of things at college. Since that was my last class of the day, I returned to my dorm and had a lot of time in which I studied/did hw/watched tv.
Around 8 though I really jumped out of the comfort zone and decided to go to swing dance lessons (Sarah Ezelle told me about them). I remember swing dancing with Justin at Natalie's wedding (after he had taken swing dance lessons at OSU) and thinking how much fun it would be to take swing lessons of my own some day when I would be at college. So, I went not really knowing what to expect, and walked into a crowded room full of people. We all made a circle that was 2 people deep and learned some of the basics of swing ( forgot the specific style), dancing with around 10 different people. Then when the lesson was over, they announced that there would be a dance till 11. I got over the awkwardness of being around/ dancing with strangers by meeting several different people and accepting every dance offer I was given :) It was so much fun to be spun, twirled around and doing moves I had only ever seen in movies. I realized that I'm not that great of a dancer (need SEVERAL more lessons), that swing dancing is much harder than it looks lol, and that I really enjoy trying new things and shouldn't limit myself to trying new things only when I have the comfort of a friend or family member trying out something new along with me.
I'm off to daily mass, but I'll write about my day today when I get back!

Thank you for the desk extender Dad!

Pictures of my desk with extender that Dad made:

Also seen in picture: African violet :)thanks mom!, DG picture in frame we made ( on top of bulletin board)

How I like to do math hw...

I wish I had a before picture when my desk was in use because then you could see how much more room there is now. The extra space makes me feel less cluttered and much better!
Today is going well, was 20 min early to both TEFB and MATH classes so I was able to relax and discover that you are more in the loop when you get there ahead of time. Also had a girl look off/ copy some things I jotted down in my notes for math. :) I take great pride in my note-taking and love when I'm able to help someone else out with my notes. lol, just one of my idiosyncrasies I guess :) Oh and had a pop quiz that I feel good about! YAY for getting back on top of things! Oh, and I'm finally getting over the cold...still have a nasty cough, but the allergy med. really helped!

Another good day :)

Slept in a little this morning as I had another night of this wonderful sore throat, and then went to Open House with my fish camp DG (discussion group). There is seriously something for everyone...which is a little overwhelming when you see several groups that you are interested in. I think I'm going to join Kappa Theta Beta ( Catholic sorrority) as it combines a lot of the groups I'm interested in. And I'm still looking for an oncampus group I may get into. We'll see, I'm really trying to not bite off more than I can chew especially 1st semester!
After the Open house, I went to mass with Denise, Torrie, and Cathy and afterwords there was another carnival with free food and fun (won an aggie Catholic shirt :) ) and an awesome photo opportunity:

:-D

And just a few pictures of my FIRST AGGIE FOOTBALL GAME :) ...that we won :

This pic. doesn't do this move justice at all! Its crazy to see them do this box...just have to see it in person...

The famous "T" :-D I <3 the corp band!!

Corp chasing the yell leaders since we won ( Tradition: corp tackles them and throw them in the fish pond when we win :) )

Well I'm going to get back onto homework. I'm seeing how easy it to let it all pile up and trying not to dig myself a hole! Hope everyone has a good next week! Love to all!

G3

During one of the programs at fish camp they played a slide show that had pictures and lots of different quotes, all of which I wish I could have written down, but one that I remembered and can apply to my day went something like this.
" When something works out, good. If it doesn't, its an experience you can learn from"
Yesterday went pretty well. My first two classes each had over 100 students in them, but I knew some people in each class, and meeting new people is a breeze at A&M. My classes are spaced out nicely so that I have great free time in between them that I can use to get things done. So anyways around 4:30 I decided that I needed to go out and run some errands like buying some notebooks(HEB is reeeaaaly picked over), and that while I would be out I could swing by Papa Johns and use the, "FREE LARGE PIZZA" coupon Heather was handed, to get us some supper. When I last parked my car the spots I usually parked on were full, and all I remembered was that I could see the ramp to the roof from my spot. Needless to say finding my car turned into a real treasure hunt in which I walked up and down every isle pressing the lock button every now and then to see if I could hear my horn ( also had a panic button...but I'm a worry-wort and have never tried it so didn't know what exactly will happen or how to turn it off lol). After 30 min I found my car and learned my lesson about ALWAYS remembering the row # and letter (hence the title G3 :) )...Once out I only had time to go to HEB because of traffic and then went up to grab my books ( and granola bar ) and was off to my biology that went from 6:30-9:20. I really believe that things either go well or turn into lessons we can learn from in the future. And that we need days filled with both!
Here's a picture of my room. I put pictures in a scrape book on LJ, but don't know how people are supposed to view them, so I may just put pictures with my entries :) Hope everyone has a good day!

1st Day of COLLEGE :)

A&M and college life are amazing! Even though I've only been here for a week (really 7 days) it already feels like home and where I'm supposed to be. The spirit on campus is indescribable. My classes so far seem like they will be both manageable and interesting, especially my teaching class. I still have one more class today, and will leave early to get some pictures. I'll have to write more later as I have to walk to my government class soon.
God Bless and have a good day :)
